zero, naught, nil, nada, ought, zilch, zip, nothing or nought

from zephyr or zephyrus in Latin, from the Arabic sifr (صفر) meaning empty or vacant, from the Indian Sanskrit śūnya meaning void or empty.

Records show that the Ancient Greeks seemed unsure about the status of zero as a number: they asked themselves "how can 'nothing' be something?",
